Wine

For wines light in style, but serious in reputation, Germany leads the way like no other country.

There are 13 wine producing regions in Germany growing 140 different varieties of grapes. Thanks to a cooler climate, German winemakers have been producing naturally lower-alcohol wines for a number of years. The perfect balance between sweetness and acidity, the result of a long ripening season, creates refreshing, elegant wines. Light in style and ideal as an aperitif or accompaniment to food.

Germany is Europe´s fourth largest wine exporter after France, Italy and Spain and the eigth largest in the world. Approximately 20% of the produced wine, or between 1.5 and 2 million Hectolitre, is exported worldwide to over 100 countries.
